Ripe plantain and cheese aborrajados: easy and quick recipe

colombian breakfast colombian culture colombian recipes easy recipes finger food gluten free snacks latin american food maduros party appetizers party food plantain finger food plantain recipes plantain snacks plátanos maduros quick dinner ideas quick recipes savory plantains sweet plantains venezuelan food

Preparation:

Cut the FRUTA FOODS plantains and stuff them with cheese. Prepare a batter of flour, egg, milk, and sugar for coating. Dip the stuffed Fruta Foods plantains in the batter. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain excess oil and serve hot.

Tips:

  1. Make sure to cut the cheese into pieces that are well-centered inside the plantain to prevent it from coming out during cooking. A trick is to make a deep cut along the plantain without reaching the base, insert the cheese, and then press gently to seal.
  2. Make sure the batter has a consistency similar to that of a light pancake batter. If it is too thick, the coating will be heavy; if it is too runny, it will not adhere well to the plantain.
  3. Dip the stuffed plantains just before frying so that the coating is crispier. A trick for an extra crispy coating is to roll the battered plantains in fine breadcrumbs before frying.
